WHAT IT IS

The machine, explained

A reformer is a spring-loaded bed with a sliding carriage, adjustable straps, and a bar to push or pull against. You lie, sit, kneel or stand on it and move the carriage against the springs.

That is the whole trick: the springs can assist you or resist you. Turn them one way and a movement becomes supported enough for a first week back after injury. Turn them the other way and it becomes hard enough to humble somebody who lifts five days a week.

Nothing is rushed and nothing bounces. Every rep is slow, controlled, and finished before the next one starts.

WHY PEOPLE STAY

Strength without the pounding

  • Kind to joints and spine

The carriage carries your weight while the springs do the resisting, so you build strength without the impact of jumping or heavy loading.

  • Real core strength

Every movement starts from your midline, so posture, balance and everyday lifting all get easier — not just your abs.

  • Scales to any level

Springs adjust in seconds. The same exercise can be rehab-gentle or genuinely hard, which is why beginners and athletes train in the same room.

  • Supports recovery

Controlled range of motion and adjustable load make the reformer a common choice for working back from injury at a pace that feels safe.

YOUR FIRST CLASS

How it goes

Walking into a room full of springs and straps is intimidating exactly once. Here is what actually happens.

  1. Book your intro

Start with the free intro class. No commitment and no experience needed — just come see what a reformer actually does.

  2. Get set up

Your instructor sets your springs, footbar and straps for your body, and stays with you through the first run of each movement.

  3. Find your pace

You leave knowing which settings are yours. From there you build: same class, more load, more control.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered

None at all. Every exercise on the reformer is scaled to resistance you set yourself, so a first-timer and a lifelong athlete can take the same class side by side. Your instructor demonstrates each movement and sets your springs for you.
